Scott Von Doviak’s Summer Movie Preview

If perusing the summer movie schedule leaves you with a strong sense of deja vu, there’s a good reason for that. Beginning with this Friday’s release of Iron Man 2, there are no less than 10 sequels on the docket between now and Labor Day — not to mention the predictable assortment of remakes (The Karate Kid), re-imaginings (Robin Hood), adaptations of TV series (The A-Team) and comic books (Jonah Hex), and movies that just seem very familiar (Sylvester Stallone’s action throwback The Expendables). With a few exceptions, notably Christopher Nolan’s mysterious mind-bender Inception, it appears that originality will be in short supply this summer … but don’t despair!
